How to Spot a Fake Counterfeit Designer Handbag

If you missed Katie Couric's show yesterday, the theme was Counterfeit Handbags. They spoke about the production and sale of counterfeit goods. It is a global, multi-billion dollar problem and one that has serious economic ramifications for Governments, businesses and consumers. Counterfeiting is everywhere - it can affect what we eat, what we watch, what medicines we take and what we wear - and all too often the link between fake goods and transnational organized crime is overlooked in the search for knock-offs at bargain-basement prices. A counterfeit handbag is often created in a sweatshop, in violation of child labor laws, anti-sweatshop laws and basic human rights.

There are times however that we don't know we are purchasing a fake product. Obviously, if you are paying $50.00 for a New Season Louis Vuitton Handbag, you probably already know it is fake. But, how do you spot a fake handbag?

Mary Kay Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover Review

Mary Kay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover

I haven’t used Mary Kay Makeup or Skincare since I was a teenager. A friend of mine, 4 states away from me, contacted me that she was now a representative of Mary Kay in the South. I am a beauty junkie and love to try new products. I am always searching for an effective, easier, less expensive way to expand my beauty skincare regime.  One of the products I ordered was “Mary Kay Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover” which was rated as a Best of Beauty Award for 2011 by Allure Magazine.  The Price is $15.00

What are their claims?
Gently removes eye makeup, including waterproof mascara, without tugging or pulling the delicate skin in the eye area. Formula does not leave skin feeling greasy.
Clinically tested for skin irritancy and allergy.
Suitable for contact lens wearers.
Suitable for sensitive skin and sensitive eyes.
Hypoallergenic, oil-free and ophthalmologist-tested.

What was my experience with this eye makeup remover?

I LOVED this product! I have Blue eyes that are highly sensitive. This product removed my eye makeup without a trace of makeup left over or any remaining residue. With other eye makeup removers I have tried in the past, the remover left traces of oil on my eyelids and eyelashes. After trying this remover,  my sensitive eyes were left clean and non-irritated.

This Mary Kay Oil Eye Free Makeup Remover is a keeper and welcome new addition to my skincare regime. Now I know why it is rated one of Mary Kay's Best sellers!

Mascara, One of the most important cosmetics in your beauty bag

Mascara, the do’s and don’ts of one of the most important pieces of makeup in your beauty bag. Thank goodness for us, it has transformed over the years and it has been invented and reinvented hundreds of times.

Choosing your Mascara:
With so many choices of mascara brands in the market place, you first need to determine your budget. Mascara prices can range from $3.00 to $50.00 depending on the brand. Concerned about safety ratings, The Environmental Working Group (EWG) EWG's Skin Deep database provides you with easy-to-navigate safety ratings for a wide range of products and ingredients on the market. They have reviewed and tested over 1500+ mascaras. It is a good place to start if you are concerned on the safety of the mascara you are thinking about purchasing.

Choosing the Brush:
Curved, Short Bristles, Large Bristles, Comb Like, etc. Depending on the length of your lashes and the look you want to achieve, the magic of mascara lies in the brush.  Luckily for us, many manufacturers state what the ideal outcome will be based on the brush type.
Lengthen and Curl Your Lashes
Curling eyelashes make your eyes look wider & brighter. In my opinion, I like Metal Eyelash Curlers better than plastic. Carefully align the tool with your lashes and hold for five to ten seconds. Then apply one or two light coats of mascara to extend lashes to their maximum length.
Keep It Clean
Using proper eye makeup remover. Always be sure to take off all Makeup before going to bed, especially mascara.  It prevents breakage to your eyelashes and reduces your risk of an eye infection.

Mascara Safety

Never swap or share your cosmetics, especially mascara. One of the most important safety precautions you can take is replacing your mascara every 3 months. According to the FDA “The shelf life for eye-area cosmetics is more limited than for other product because of repeated microbial exposure during use by the consumer and the risk of eye infections, some industry experts recommend replacing mascara 3 months after purchase. If mascara becomes dry, discard it. Do not add water or, even worse, saliva to moisten it, because that will introduce bacteria into the product. If you have an eye infection, consult a physician immediately, stop using all eye-area cosmetics, and discard those you were using when the infection occurred”.
